Udupi food deserves its reputation
The home kitchens are better than the restaurants that made the name famous. A monthly meal arrangement changes a long stay completely.
It is a temple coast
Krishna Matha, Kollur, Murudeshwara. Pilgrim travel here is steady year-round rather than seasonal.
Getting around is easy
Flat, well connected and walkable in parts — which is why the missing ride service matters less here than it would in the hills.

Getting there
Mangalore has the airport and the main railway station. Udupi and Manipal are roughly an hour north of it.
When to come
October to February is the most comfortable. June to September brings serious monsoon rain along this coast.
Long-stay rates
Monthly rates are normally well below the nightly equivalent. Tell us the full duration up front and we will negotiate on that basis.
Near the hospital
If you are attending a hospital, say which one. Walking distance matters more than anything else on the list.
This corridor is assisted, not live
We have no self-serve inventory in coastal Karnataka. Every request is worked by a person who contacts properties and kitchens directly — which is slower than a search box and considerably more useful for a stay measured in months. We also have no vetted drivers here yet, and will not pretend otherwise.
The meal arrangement is what makes a long stay bearable.

How long does an assisted match take?
Usually the same working day for a shortlist, and a day or two to confirm a long stay, because the host has more to consider.
Can I see the room before committing?
Photographs and the exact location always. A video walkthrough where the host is willing, which most are for longer stays.
Why no rides here?
We have not vetted drivers in this corridor yet. Rather than pass you an unchecked number, we say no. It is on the list.
